The Impact of In-Between Spaces and Outdoor Places
An Educator's Currere Reflection
Keywords:
currere, in-between, spaceAbstract
I began this writing using the currere methodology 12 months ago, in the winter months, in efforts to understand more fully the experience of being and living in the in-between-outside spaces. These are the spaces we walk and live in between teaching classes and facilitating research projects. I wanted to explore ways of creating, as my performative act in my community. To develop this work, I leaned into what Cordi (2018) importantly described as “asking good questions," which he notes "is at the heart of good teaching” (p. 82). As well, I reflected on Pinar's (2012) assertion that currere, “as a sensibility … can become precious to educators committed to their-and their students’-ongoing self-formation through academic study” (p. 45).
