This work is a series of four autoethnographic essays. Each essay is guided by the four steps of the currere method - regression, progression, analysis, and synthesis. The author revisits her experience as a student during the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks and the political polarization that seemed to follow the attacks. She explores how these experiences sparked her commitment to nonviolence and her concern with balancing economy-focused education with education that allows students to achieve self-actualization.
