“The Daily Grind” and Duality of "Going Back Home"

In this currere piece, Googins and Angelone share their reflections of Angelone's sabbatical semester back in the classroom. Through blog posts by Angelone, framed as "curriculum fragments" (Poetter, 2024), and critical responses by Googins, framed as "reflective interludes" (Poetter, 2024), the themes "the daily grind" (Jackson, 1968) of teachers' lives and the duality of Angelone's experiences as a former teacher/current scholar are explored. Googins's unique opportunity to be a "critical friend" to Angelone during her sabbatical semester highlights the benefits of an outside, reflective voice during a self-study.
