Abstract

This piece is about a professor whose dream of a career in the academy is disintegrating in front of him. A once excited scholar who encouraged diverse opinions, independent thinking, and seeing the humanity in others is now reduced to being an over worked administrative assistant, teaching five classes per semester with countless advisees. 

Independent thought is discouraged, agency is frowned upon, and a colorblind departmentalized agenda rules the day (and tomorrow).
