A Journey towards Discovering Novel Ways of Teaching and Learning
Keywords:
Mathematics teaching and learning, AndragogyAbstract
This currere describes my experience in learning mathematics in Cambodia through traditional ways (pedagogical teaching approaches) and how my experiences in being a student in Cambodia, Thailand and the U.S. have shaped my views in teaching and helping students learn. This currere suggests the application of andragogy as a novel way to teach mathematics in elementary schools in Cambodia. This paper consists of four major parts: 1) The regression: Multiplication and me; 2) The progression: My dream of the future of mathematic teaching and learning; 3) Analyzing the possibility of inspiring elementary mathematic teachers; and 4) Synthetic stage: Exploring novel ways to teach and learn mathematics.
